Getting self-motivated is not that easy, especially when you are dealing with stressful situations. Sometimes, getting up early from your bed is easier said than done. People in depressive times become demotivated as they are going through a lot in their life.
But don’t worry, as there are a few simple yet quite effective techniques to get you back on track.
Ways of Self-Motivation
Self-motivation is highly important in our everyday life to keep us moving forward. Some of the top 5 ways are as follows:
1. Ask Yourself Questions When You Wake up
Whenever you wake up, get up from the bed, prepare breakfast. Afterward, once you’re done with your breakfast, ask yourself questions that push you towards reaching your goal.
Some examples are:
- Where am I currently standing in my life?
- What do I want to do in my life?
- Am I living the life I always dreamed of?
- Is there anything I achieved that makes me feel proud of myself today?
- What makes me excited about my life today?
- What makes me feel happy or satisfied with my life today?
Such type of questions are uplifting questions. They are great to be asked by yourself everyday to uplift yourself and remind yourself what you want to be in your life.
2. Set A Vision and Take Inspiration from Your Role Models
A vision is a long-term goal that helps you continue growing until you reach there. Set yourself a vision and ask yourself did you achieve it yet? This will help you push yourself up on daily basis.
Also, whenever you feel down and not motivated enough, look at the lives of your ideals. Look at their accomplishments, read and listed about their hardships, how they tackled all the difficulties. This will inspire and thus, motivate you a lot.
3. Start by Small Tasks
William Harry McRaven, a former retired commander and 4-star admiral of the United States discussed how to motivate and encourage yourself every day. He mentioned:
“If you make your bed every morning, you have accomplished the first task of your day. It will give you a sense of pride and encourage you to do another task and another and then another”
He further stated:
“If by chance you had a miserable day, you’ll come home to a bed that is made, and a made bed gives you an encouragement that tomorrow will be better.”
So, as you can see, even the smallest tasks can motivative you for another.
4. Energize Yourself
Whenever you wake up in the morning, energize yourself. Go for a morning walk, do some stretching exercises to get those muscles activated. This will help you start your day well and keep you motivated throughout the day.
5. Don’t Avoid Failure
If you failed in anything then don’t be disappointed. Always remember, failure is the first step towards success. If you won’t fail, you’ll never gain any experience and you’ll never learn. So instead of fearing it, face it with confidence and you’ll be motivated once again.
